Vigan

Vigan is the capital of the northern province Ilocus Sur. Its Spanish architecture and cobblestone streets has remained intact and earns it a World Heritage site appointment. A throwback to the 18th century, kalesas (horse-drawn carriages) are still plentiful on the streets. If you can block out the tourists noise, it's tempting to imagine a romantic lifestyle within the houses here. The capiz shell windows evoke the vanished art of harana (serenade), Maria Clara gowns, and lace fans.

I meant to take a photo only of the street sign detail. I love the  vintage kalesa that's part of the sign post! Then I couldn't resist including the family of 4 on a scooter.

Handmade souvenirs are abundant on Calle Crisologo, the city's famed destination.
