Tree Hopper
I ended up with a few of these match stacks for my daughter Amelia and for gifts at the San Francisco Renegade Fair. All toys are made by hand using sustainably harvested wood by Tree Hopper creator Eric Siegel in Chicago. He also makes teethers, whoa-bots, hopper jalopies, puzzles, yoyos, and wall art.

Sugarcane
I could not leave it out :) Sugarcane transforms hand-loomed fabrics woven by women artisans in rural Philippines into bright, easy toddler clothes. Small run fabrics means limited edition pieces for the littles. Designed by a mom. Woven by moms. For our small world.

BRYR
Timeless, handmade clogs are crafted by designer Isobel Schofield, who is as real as she is lovely. She wants you to enjoy well-made shoes that last. She has classic styles that are carried year-round, boot and brogue clogs for fall, and sandal and bootie clogs for spring. I've got my eye on a pair myself.

Makers face many choices in developing their products. Choosing the sustainable, ethical, or handmade route is almost always more expensive, less efficient, and requires greater knowledge. I believe makers who take this route and the buyers who chose them will change the world.
