Sugarcane Fit Samples

Sugarcane's fit samples are done! Today's fitting day. My fit model tries everything on to check design, fit, and adjustments. The fit samples were made with ANTHILL fabrics so we can see how the patterns will work. Some samples use the actual patterns we will use in the line, while some patterns are only for the fit samples, because I didn't have all the yardage needed when I turned the project over.

The tank fits pretty well but the shorts need major adjustments.

Everything needs work. Eeks. Detail on tunic has to be changed for production. Textile pattern on pants needs to be realigned from side seam, and fit needs be slouchier and longer. A lot of discussion and my model is bored.

Next, The Factory will make Sugarcane's production samples and garment patterns based on today's fitting. The production samples will be used to market the line, while the patterns will be used to manufacture the line. Sugarcane will soon have 10 production samples, 5 styles with 2 colorways each.

Sugarcane's first line is a tribal-inspired mini collection that includes a bib dress, girl's bib tank, boy's short sleeve tunic, unisex shorts, and unisex slouch pants. Sugarcane is partnering with ANTHILL as its textile supplier to promote indigenous Filipino fabrics and to support the hill tribe mothers, who weave them to provide for their families. Made in the U.S.A.
