Daikanyama, Tokyo

The T-Site. Possibly the coolest bookstore ever. Spread over three 2-story buildings, Tsutaya Books boasts a bar made of books serving real, grownup drinks (18 and older only), a restaurant, minimart, coffee shop, travel agency, concierge service (uh huh), and, why yes, even books. The design sections are unbelievable. It would be easy to spend an entire day here.

I might get drinks at this bar.

Close by is my favorite Japanese store, Okura, full of clean-lined, indigo-dyed clothing, shoes, and accessories.

I love how they wrapped my purchase in paper, then muslin, then a bag.

Daikanyama was definitely one of my favorite neighborhood's in Tokyo due in large part to the super creative and cool shops and cafes.

Even their window washers are cool and hip.

Sesame seed croissant and organic juices.

Mastering the mic drop.

A souvenir must: Japanese sneakers.

Today's globetrotting photos were taken by Dr. Ricci Sylla.

Ricci is an ObGyn by profession, and an avid, snap-happy photographer at all other times. She likes taking pictures mostly of food, but since the recent population explosion in her family, cute nieces and nephews show up much more frequently in her Picasa files. She hearts cake, ice cream, macarons, cotton candy and fancy desserts!
