Chiang Mai

That one time when we stayed in a Lanna Kingdom palace in Thailand...

The Dhara Dhevi in Chiang Mai takes you back in time.

Our wing.

The champagne villa, as every resort should.

The breakfast buffet was as expansive as the resort. There were many delicious options but I loved this yogurt best.

Oh, you know, just brushing up on our Lanna history.

Our humble home for a few days.

Carriage ride to the temple, not because it's far, but just because we could.

Dinner at Le Grande Lanna was a memorable feast and featured traditional Thai dance.

Yep, that's my kid walking across the stage like it was a blind audition.

At Wat Phra That Doi Suthep...

...where Amelia joined that Dance troupe as a walk-on.

In an alley off of Sankampaeng Road aka Handicraft Highway.

In Chiang Mai there's a permanent Night Bazaar that opens every night. In addition to that, there is a weekly Saturday Night Market and a weekly Sunday Night Market, where vendors are the actual artisans of the wares they sell. The Saturday Night Market is best and the only one not to miss! It has the best stuff, the best prices, traditional music, tasty food, a straightforward layout, and a laid-back vibe.

Fresh fruit juices at the Saturday night market.

Saturday Night Market loot include hand embroidered tote, dress, skirt and shoes for Amelia; skirt and pants for me; batik pants for Kai; wallets and bags for gifts.
